FAMILY OWNED + OPERATED
Houston Stellar has been family owned and operated from the first day that Sara Zanon formed the club in 2011. Sara (Club Director), along with her husband Scott (Business Director), daughter Claire (Youth/Developmental/Beach Director) and aunt Robin (Finance Mgr.) are directly involved in all aspects of the club. We strive to provide consistent communication to our members and believe in a personal approach to everything we do. We work hand in hand with our staff and coaches to provide the best experience possible in a very competitive environment. We are not perfect, but that doesn’t stop us from trying. We love what we do and believe strongly that Stellar Volleyball can have a huge impact on a players life. If you are looking for a top notch volleyball club with a personal approach to volleyball and life skills, then Houston Stellar is a great choice.
Sara Zanon founded the club because her group of 14 year old kids and families needed a place to play. Little did she know that she would end up with 14 teams in the first year that has now grown to over 30 teams. Sara has dedicated her passion for volleyball into Houston Stellar. Sara was a standout player and All District player at Deer Park High School and went on to play in college at Angelo State. Sara graduated in Education and was an elementary teacher for 7 years (2nd grade) and an assistant VB coach at Pearland High School. Sara is currently the club director and oversees all volleyball operations, including coaching, programming and recruiting. Sara’s husband Scott is the Business Director for the club and has been involved full-time with the club since retiring from Nike in 2017 after 27 years of experience in Retail, Sports Marketing and Team Sales. Scott played 4 sports in High School and 3 in college at the University of Montana (Basketball, Track and Field and Football). Scott oversees the facility, team/coach gear, retail, performance training and club budgeting. Scott’s daughter and Sara’s step daughter Claire is the Assistant Director at Stellar responsible for the Youth, Developmental and Beach programs. Claire was also a standout high school volleyball player at Jesuit High School in Portland, OR, winning three state championships, including a 115 match win streak. Jesuit finished ranked #2 Nationally in Max Preps in 2015. Claire attended Chaminade in Hawaii and graduated with a Business Marketing degree. Claire played 4 years and 4 positions at Chaminade including OH, RS, M and Libero. Claire finished as the all-time school leader in Digs.
